Day fifteen. Sigh. As in life, there will be ups and downs with this project. However, I am learning more about my camera, getting more intentional with the settings. I learned that Spot Metering captures white birds more accurately, with better focus. The 3rd AI Servo function in Canon's 5D Mark III camera menu is effective for birds, especially ones that flit around a lot. At the end of the day I come home with more keepers when I am thinking about the changing light conditions and adjusting for it, rather than spray and pray.

Today I settled on this Mallard mama at LSU Lakes because from a distance she blends in so well with the cypress knees that she's easy to overlook. GOD has given every creature some sort of advantage in order to survive. Every day I look around at the intricate designs of nature and KNOW in my heart that there is a GOD who loves and cares for ALL he has made.
