It was a GREAT day to kayak Lake Martin. And thankfully the weather app was wrong. I was photographing an 8' alligator sunning on a log when suddenly a Belted Kingfisher landed on a short tree next to the gator. It was the first time I've been able to get off a halfway decent shot of this elusive bird. Credit: GOD. It was a little tricky because my kayak kept drifting off towards the gator, but I'd put the camera down slowly, then paddle in position, stealthily pick the camera up and try again. The Kingfisher let me get several good looks before flying off.
