In a wooded, swampy area close to home I saw a raccoon sitting high up in a tree cavity, a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, and a Great Purple Hairstreak, among other wildlife. Weather was absolutely beautiful and I relished the quiet. Here is the Great Purple Hairstreak aka Great Blue Hairstreak. It is a common gossamer-winged butterfly species in the U.S. The caterpillar larvae feed on mistletoe! I believe this may be a male, but not certain.
