287/366 | Variegated Fritllary

Bright and early I headed back to Burden Gardens. I got a half-way decent shot of the Hummingbird, but decided to take a break and go with the Variegated Fritillary. Also known as the Hortensia Butterfly, this is one I don't often see, though the internet says they are quite common. This gal/guy is looking a little worse for the wear with the faded and torn rear wing. Bless its heart.
