Our trip to Dauphin Island was nearly canceled thanks to Hurricane Zeta, but we took a chance and went anyway. Many marriages don't make it to year 30, so we had to at least try. Our 5 day, 4 night stay was cut in half due to threat of flooding. We tried to make the most of our time there even with the storm threat looming ahead. We had one good day and we will cherish it always.

We arrived on the island around 3PM on Sunday, the 25th. Light was abysmal making photography challenging. However, I did get a Lifer the very first day: the Willet! I wanted to post his picture, but this Sanderling (99% certain of ID) with a fish spoke to me more. The Willet is a dull brown color, and against the brown waves, not a compelling image, especially factoring in the bad light.
