Is there a class action lawsuit to sue pollsters, mainstream media, government bureaucrats and politicians for mental anguish? I mean, really! What an election. I knew it would be a mess, but it's still stressful.
So I did what I always do when I need to de-stress: pray and go outdoors.
For the last week I've known about the hiding place of a sweet little Green Heron on the golf course at LSU Lakes. There's an overhang at the edge of the pond, like a grotto, where he's made his home. Sticks and grass camouflage the entrance. He emerges frequently to fish right off the bank, and if he becomes frightened, he ducks back into his safe space.
I've been waiting to get shots of him with a big fish, but he seems to go for the little critters. This might be a tadpole in his beak; it's hard to tell.
It was so peaceful watching him as I sat on an exposed tree root. He knew I was there, but it didn't seem to bother him unless I made significant movement. See, nature teaches you to be still. And afterwards, I'm left with a wonderful sense of calm.
O Lord, what a variety of things you have made!
In wisdom you have made them all.
The earth is full of your creatures.
