After bible study I drove to LSU Lakes. Once I find a place with semi-willing subjects, I'll keep mining it until I find another spot. Heading straight for the natural grotto near the golf course, I looked for the Green Heron. In his place was a Black-Crowned Night Heron who was really too large for the space. The Night Heron was not at all willing to pose and flew off quickly. Then the Green Heron flew in front of me, seemingly out of nowhere, and I was able to get a shot of him in flight. Afterwards, I ran into a photography acquaintance, and he told me about some Blue-winged Teals and Wood Ducks farther up the way. By the time I got there, the light was awful. And the dadgum White Pelicans flew overhead in the distance, taunting me. Lord willing, I'll return tomorrow for the Teal or the Pelicans. Who knows what I'll find. It's never what I plan.
