Bless his heart, this American White Pelican has been stranded at the lakes by the governor's mansion for about three years now. The volunteer group who have tried to keep the lakes clean and help injured wildlife, bestowed the name Bryan (yes, with a Y) on him. I would have named him Pete or given him a male name that starts with a P, but that's just me. Normally the White Pelicans come for winter, then leave. Those of us who know his situation are saddened that he spends most of the year alone. Lately, he's been flapping his wings, but cannot get airborne. We'll all continue to watch over him.
