Today I went flower bed shopping. In my younger days I loved retail stores; in my old-er-ish age, I get excited about plants. Who knew! :)
We might have one more frost, but I feel pretty confident that winter is behind us. There wasn't much of a winter to speak of anyway.
I planted blue daze around the corner edges of the front bed. In the patio bed I went with verbena, columbine, oxalis, English daisy, pincushion flower, celosia, trailing geranium, and the one I'm most thrilled about: Grande Tequila Dahlia. I fell in love with dahlias while in Portland. Some of them are as big as dinner plates. We have some varieties that grow here, but they don't last long due to our oppressive summers. I'm going to baby this one and try to make it last--we'll see! Anyway, here she is.
