My neighbor's yard is bursting with these gorgeous blooms. And yes, they really are this bright shade of orange; I actually toned it down a little in Lightroom. What I'm having difficulty with is identifying it. I was certain it was a variety of Amaryllis, but doing an internet search led me in so many directions, my head is still spinning. It could be a Striped Barbados Lily also known as the Hippeastrum (hip ee ASS trum) Striatum (why lily in the name if it's still in the Amaryllis family?). Or it might be the Amaryllis Minerva or the Charmeur Amaryllis. Whatever its name, it brings me joy. I've been seeing the red and white ones too, and my own Apple Blossom, but there isn't another yard in our area with his particular color. I'm waiting for one particular Apple Blossom to bloom so I can get a better background for the shot. Happy spring, y'all!
