90/366 | Purslane

Today I planted thirteen more plants in my various beds. Saturday I planted thirty-one. One of the milkweed plants I bought today had two giant caterpillars already on them! I've read that caterpillars can eat an entire plant before they go to the Chrysalis stage. I may need to return to the nursery because I don't think I have enough milkweed for the six I am raising. I did find some floral water tubes that keep the milkweed moist inside the container. Hopefully that'll help me ration the leaves better.

My "Photo of the Day" is the re-emergence of a striped purslane from last year. It somehow survived an entire year. This plant is crazy easy to grow. You can even break off any area of the plant, stick it in dirt and it's good to go. I've even read they're good in salads, but check with your doctor first! Do not take advice from me. This little bloom measures about 1/2" diameter.
