Although regarded as pests with a boisterous, noisy presence, these birds possess beautiful colors. The main problem with the European Starling is their negative impact on the nesting sites of our native Bluebirds and Red-headed Woodpeckers. Brought to North America in 1890 they have become prolific throughout the entire continent. They are known for being intelligent, adaptable, tough and good mimics.
