In between loads of laundry I observed the birds coming to my feeders. This female Northern Cardinal was acting strange. She fluffed herself out, then leaned to one side as if she was trying to expel something. The male was watching from a nearby branch in the Crape Myrtle tree above her. It wasn't until I got the pictures uploaded that I noticed her crossed beak. She was eating seeds I had scattered on the ground, but I don't know if she is able to crack seeds with this obvious beak deformity. Poor girl!
