I have a lot of catching up to do for this project!
On the day I arrived to care for my dad, May 7, we were enjoying the beautiful weather on his covered patio. A friendly Pitbull mix had stopped by for some scritches. He stayed for a few minutes, then he left us to visit the next neighbor. I found out that he does this regularly and no one knows where he lives, so they just call him Buster.
When I looked back at my dad I noticed a brown lump near his wheelchair. I thought the dog must've left us a "gift." As you can see, it was a stunned Carolina Wren. At first, I thought its wing was broken, but she climbed on my finger and I placed her on a patio cushion. Then, whoosh! Off she went. You might see a lot of Wrens this week since they are raising chicks in a decorative box on the patio. I whiled away many hours watching them with my dad, and it was one of the sweetest blessings, among many, that God sent for the 10 days I was in Mississippi.
