Today I visited nearby Hilltop Arboretum to see how their new "Cajun Prairie Inspired Meadow" was coming along. This is something new for 2020 and there are plans to add more native plants that thrive in wet/moist conditions. So far I've seen Bee Balm, Coreopsis, Zinnia, Great Coneflower, Persian Clover, and Indian Blanketflower. There are four large sections with mowed walking paths. Lots of pollinators taking advantage of the bounty. It was so incredibly hot, I didn't stay too long.
The flower below is called Tickseed or Coreopsis. It's the first time I've seen one in deep red. Usually they are yellow with maroon markings. I'd love to incorporate this color into my backyard wildflower garden next year.
