Put out the suet and they will come. Not only were we blessed with the Downy, the Tufted Titmouse made a couple of cameos, too. Hopefully, I will have some better shots to share of the Titmouse at a future date.
The Downy Woodpecker is the smallest of the Woodpecker species in North America, measuring about 6.5" in length and are quite prolific throughout most of the continent. The Downys in my yard do not appear to be afraid of humans carrying enormous camera gear.
