This Woodpecker is the easiest to identify, although you might not think the name is appropriate. Rarely showing their underside, they sport a light patch of red on the belly. You can see it in this image if you look closely at the bottom of his belly. I first spotted this bird over 10 years ago when I lived in Texas. The vivid red head and the black and white pattern on the back makes this bird a colorful addition to the yard. Yesterday I tried my hardest to photograph him, but he wasn't cooperating. Today I got lucky. Blessed, really.
