Posting a day late because we kayaked Lake Martin yesterday, then had dinner with a friend. The water was so choppy, we were only able to kayak one hour; normally we paddle for two hours. Constantly fighting the waves wreaked havoc on my back and the husband said his shoulders were aching.
We pressed on toward the Osprey nest since little other activity seemed to be happening. An Osprey parent was perched on a snag by the nest with two chicks peeking over the nest's edge. Looks like they're almost ready to fledge. I got some shots of the parent looking straight at me, but I wasn't thrilled with any of the shots. As hard as I tried to stabilize the kayak, it was tossing me around the water like a cork.
So I'm using a shot I took on my way to return the kayak back to the rental center. Another iPhone shot to the rescue! It's rather hazy, but the bright kayak colors are eye-catching.
