For the first time in four days I ventured out of the house and ended up at Burden Gardens. Good thing I wore my waterproof Timberlands because I was in mud up to my ankles. I photographed what I thought was the last of the sunflowers, but was told by a caretaker they have two more plots ready to go. Woo hoo!
On my way back to the car I noticed Lilypads in a large, rusty basin; the kind my grandparents had in the pasture for the cows' water. Among the pink lilypads were these pantropical aquatic flowers called Water Snowflake or Floating Heart. The genus is Nymphoides for those master gardeners out there! I love the frilliness of the bloom and the big heart leaf. At least it's something different for my project.
