Today was, um, interesting. Browsing Twitter after my devotional, I saw that Pence was to arrive at Tiger Stadium to meet with legislators and other leaders to discuss reopening our schools. So I finished my coffee, threw my gear together and left to scope it out. I had hoped to get a photo of Pence. I'm not a huge fan of Pence--he seems a little off to me for some reason, but he's the VP, so I thought it might make a good photo for my project.

There were three other people waiting with the same purpose. One couple had made a sign with a bible verse on it, and another lady had an American flag. All were wearing Trump hats and red clothing. I was in my NOLA Jazzfest shirt (blue) from 2 years ago. Anyway, they were very nice people and we are all on the same page with sadness at the direction our world is heading, and how that relates to the holy bible.

Finally, the big moment arrived. A black suburban with two flags over the headlights pulled up to a tent they had set up next to the building. I started shooting on high speed, and then this woman, shorter than me, but wider, started pointing in our direction. Her pace quickened and my hopes were dashed when I realized she was making a beeline in our direction. Very forcefully, she told us to move it or get out or some words to that effect. When the man I was with said we had permission from the LA GOP to be there, she continued to point and yell through her mask to get away. It was quite unnerving and disappointing to be treated with such disrespect when we were there to show our support. But I guess security doesn't know us and probably treats all outsiders with suspicion. I am thankful that she didn't confiscate my camera or memory card--that would've been a BIG problem.

I went home feeling like I got my butt spanked. But I did get images of Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy, two outspoken Republican Senators. Bill Cassidy is in the blue shirt with red tie and LSU mask, and John Kennedy is on the far right in a white shirt with red tie. The Secret Service agent that was so rude and scary is standing behind Bill Cassidy.

I pray the meeting went well.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.

1 Timothy 2:1-5
