This is my favorite of the ornamental pepper plants purchased last year. Out of six, half survived the winter. This one has purple and green variegated leaves which are pretty by themselves. The plant also produces small red and purple peppers.
Today I noticed a shield bug on one of the leaves, so I grabbed the macro lens and external flash. The bug let me get one shot and became spooked. I don't know where he went, but he's obviously an expert at hiding. Anyway, I noticed that some of the peppers looked chewed on--probably that dastardly shield bug. I had not seen the inside of these peppers before and thought it'd make an interesting image.
Ever since I took this shot, rain has been gushing from the sky. Good thing I got my walk in early this morning, along with a photograph.
