The wildflower field at Hilltop Arboretum paid off for me this morning. The tickseed has died off and the field is now filled with a fern-like plant, about 3' tall with yellow blooms. It looks invasive to me, but the butterflies seem to love it. I spotted at least three pairs of Clouded Sulphurs. They are hard to shoot due to their swiftness. Also present were Monarchs and Gulf Fritillaries. It was hot, but not unbearable. We're supposed to drop down to 84F after 2PM. That'll feel like a cold spell and I will welcome it.
